Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that, despite the fact that 10 years have passed since the events of the Arab Spring, Egypt is still facing many challenges, and is fighting terrorism and successfully enduring economic hardships, in addition to the foreign terrorism represented in the presence of Turkey and Erdoğan in the region.
He added in his TV interview on MBC Masr that Egypt proved in 1952 that it was an ancient country with respected traditions, noting that the July Revolution was never bloody, and there were no executions or violent incidents like in other countries. He maintained that “we are still living in the aftermath of the Revolution, for 68 years”.
Concerning the Libyan case, Elfeki emphasized that the Turks realized that the lines of supply outside their territories is indeed a difficult matter, especially that the other side (Egypt) is close to the supply lines, and can change the military equation. He also mentioned that he does not expect a direct military confrontation between Egypt and Turkey. He believes that the negotiations would continue for many years, and that “everything is possible”.
